The whole school was talking about the racist graffiti on Sara’s locker. Norah, one of Sara’s best friends and a reporter for the student newspaper, decided to write an article about it. She didn’t want to focus only on this specific graffiti, though; the ketchup swastika incident was too similar to ignore, and besides that, there was all kinds of racist bullying and harassment happening that the school needed to do something about. She decided to talk to Orin and Kyle, since everybody knew they were behind the ketchup swastikas. Plus, they were basically professional bullies.

Both denied writing the racist message on Sara’s locker, but they did have lots to say about bullying and how it didn’t really count if it happened on the internet. Or in ketchup, Kyle said, which made Orin laugh. Norah asked if she could quote them in her article, and they said sure, they had nothing to hide. She also did a bunch of research on the psychology of racist bullying and how social media make the problem so much worse.

After Norah finished her article, she was excited to show it to Sara. But as they sat together so Sara could read it, Norah saw Sara’s face scrunch up.

“What’s wrong?” Norah asked.

“I thought you were writing an article about racist bullying,” Sara said.

“I did,” Norah answered, confused.

“No, this is an article about racist bullies,” Sara said. “Those are two different things.”
